Bhaktapur Animal Welfare Society (BAWS) organised a community anti-Rabies vaccination programne at Palikhel, Golmadi-7, Bhaktapur to mark the World Rabies Day on Saturday.
The program was organised in collaboration with Veterinary Public Health Department, Vet for Your Pet – the Animals’ Clinic, Ryderz of Bhaktapur and Sukuldhola Sports Club. The programme was supported by Sakti Tanks, Drools, Vetoquinol, Khukuri Enterprizes and Siddhi Memorial Hospital.
A total of 248 street and community dogs were vaccinated against rabies during the programme. Also during the programme, de-worming tablets, multi-vitamins and other nutrient supplements were also provided to the dogs.
In addition, community awareness regarding, street dogs, dog bites and rabies were also discussed during the function today.
The anti-Rabies vaccines were provided by Veterinary Public Health Department, and the medical supplies and technical support were provided by Siddhi Memorial Hospital and Vet for your Pet- the Animals’ Clinic.
The logistics were arranged by Sukuldhoka Sports Club, Friends Club, Sangam Veterinary Concern.
BAWS, since its establishment, has been involved in various activities related to the street dogs. BAWS has arranged free veterinary consultancies in public places on a regular basis, offering owners de-worming tablets and anti-Rabies vaccines for their dogs free of cost and also rescue sick and injured dogs.
