The District Election Office Kathmandu has said that preparations of the election to the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) have reached its final phase.
The highest number of voters 460,000 is in Kathmandu district. The district has 10 constituencies. As many as 315 polling booths have been fixed in the district.Some top leaders of the major political parties have declared to file their candidacy from Kathmandu and it has started to draw attention of all.
Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress General Secretary, Prakashman Singh, and CPN (UML) General Secretary, Ishwor Pokhrel, have already announced their candidacy from Constituency No. 10, 1 and 5 respectively for the first-past-the-post election.
Chief Election Officer, Achyut Bista, has said that activities related to election including human resources, among others, by establishing Office of the Election Officer at the International Conference Hall at New Baneshwor.
At a training organised by the District Election Office, Kathmandu, for mediapersons here today, Bista said that the office has started necessary works for the CA election.
On the occasion, Chief District Officer, Basanta Raj Gautam, informed that district-based security plan would be released within a few days.
Officer at the District Election Office, Shambhu Chalise, expressed the view that support of mediapersons was most essential to hold free and fair elections.
