Police today made two senior commanders of armed groups public. They were arrested from Dhanusha and Parsa districts, yesterday.
Rabindra Patel alias Chauhan Singh, 35, of Lipanibirta of Parsa district, the alleged military commander for Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) as well as Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jaya Krishna Goit), was arrested on the charge of involvement in various criminal activities in Tarai, from Sirsiya Khalwatola in Birgunj.
SP Sarbendra Khanal said Patel, the most wanted man in their list, was district military commander for the two underground outfits. According to him, Patel was involved in the murders of Fulchand Sah, a Nepali Congress cadre in Mahuban of Parsa in September 2007 and Parsa District Administrative Officer Mohan Mainali in 2008. He had been on the run. SP Khanal said Patel had also carried out a bomb blast in May 2009, in which Sochan Yadav, an administrative officer at Pro-Biotic Industries in Lipanibirta, was killed. Patel had also allegedly demanded extortion of Rs 8 lakh from then Indian Consul Tribhuvan Ashok threatening to kill him in June, 2010 in Birgunj.
However, Patel said he had renounced criminal activities and was no longer associated with any underground outfit. He claimed he was working as a spy for Nepal police. He said, “I have revealed information about different outfits to Parsa district police office.”

SP Khanal said police had nabbed the criminal at a time when groups were planning to foil polls.
Likewise, politburo member of Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jaya Krishna Goit) Shyam Yadav aka Prithvi Singh was paraded by Dhanusha police today. Yadav was arrested yesterday at Nagarain border point while he was trying to flee on a motorbike, said Dhanusha SP Uttamraj Subedi.
Yadav was wanted in connection with several crimes, including murder, abduction, manufacturing and smuggling of materials used in making bombs and weapons. He was allegedly involved in the murder of Mathabar Mukhiya of Janakpur municipality two years ago .
According to police record, he had also planted a bomb in a train en route to Janakpur from Jaynagar leaving as many as 29 passengers injured in May 2009. Allegedly, he had also carried out a blast on the premises of Mahottari Survey Office.
