A doctor in Gajendra Narayansingh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital denied operating on a woman suffering from delivery pains for 30 hours, who was infected with HIV /AIDS.
Gynecologist Dilip Saha denied operation to the woman although admitted at 10:00 am Tuesday after 30 hours of pains. She was to be operated after there was no normal delivery.
He also denied recommendation for referring her to other hospitals. She was then taken to BPKIHS, Dharan by relatives Wednesday evening. She gave birth to a baby girl after operation on Thursday.
The 28-year old pregnant woman of Bakadhuwa VDC of Saptari was admitted at the hospital on Tuesday.
Her husband who returned from Saudi Arabia wondered, "If the doctors themselves fear of it who will treat it?"
Doctor Saha, however, said there were no enough infrastructure and equipment in the Zonal Hospital to operate on her in the hospital.
