Regmi Leaves for New York

26 Sept-Kathmandu: Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, left here on Thursday night for New York to participate in the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations.



The UN General Assembly began from September 17 under the theme, ‘Development issues after 2015 and Implementation Possibility’.



Ministers, Chief Secretary, high level government officials, chiefs of the foreign diplomatic missions were present at the Tribhuvan International Airport to see off Chairman Regmi.

He is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 28.



The Chairman is accompanied by his spouse, Shanta Regmi, Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Uddhav Baskota, Chief of Protocol, Kali Prasad Pokhrel and Chairman Regmi’s personal secretary Prakash Regmi.



The Nepali delegation led by Chairman Regmi would also have Foreign Secretary Arjun Bahadur Thapa and Permanent Representative to the UN, Durga Prasad Bhattarai and the officers from New York.



According to the Foreign Ministry, Chairman Regmi would hold separate meetings with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Indian Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh and the Nepali communities there on September 28.



He is scheduled to return home on October 1.
