A Janakpur-based professor was found murdered at Kurtha-6 in Dhanusha district on Friday morning.
The body of Satyanarayan Gaderi of Janak Hajari Vidyapith Sanskrit Campus and Dhanusha Science Campus was recovered near a brick kiln, police said. Police Inspector Harinandan Chaudhary said the body had a gunshot wound on the chest and a cut injury on the throat. Police said Gaderi, a native of Arnama VDC in Siraha district, may have been murdered on Thursday night. He, along with his family, had moved to Janakpur-8 a few years ago. Gaderi was also the vice president of the Nepal Professors’ Association Unit Committee and the secretary of Nepal Progressive Professors’ Organisation. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
On Friday afternoon, Gaderi’s students staged a demonstration at Ramananda Chowk, demanding prompt investigations and the arrest of those involved in the murder. Superintendent of Police Uttamraj Subedi said investigations are under way. Meanwhile, all educational institutions in Janakpur have decided to remain shut on Sunday to mourn Gaderi’s death.
